What's in the article:
It is important to understand that printing in DMS does not send a copy of the drawing to your printer. Rather, printing downloads the PDF version of the drawing which you can view, email, or then physically print to a hard copy.
DMS offers single and bulk print options. A great feature is the QR code which is added to the top right corner of the PDF file when you print. This code identifies the drawing, version, user etc. This data is used to identify the drawing when you scan new pen and paper markup’s back into the system.
Print a Single Artefact:
From the Artefact Page, simply click the Print button from the view controls panel to print the Artefact.
Note: that if a drawing artefact is in review Print will provide the current Approved version. To get the latest update use the More menu to Download the Latest Version Status File
To ensure print quality the default is always set to Best (300 dpi). The option of ticking Use PDF/X-3 ensures that the printed file adheres to the most latest print format possible
Bulk Print Artefacts:
For bulk prints, perform a Search and select the desired Artefacts. Go to the collection on the bottom right-hand side
Click the Print button in collection and you'll see a pop-up window.
- No Print Transcript - You have the option to include a transcript (coversheet) for your print job. If you do not want this transcript, simply select the
- Metadata and Sorting - If you do want a transcript, you can choose to present the artefacts in either Ascending (ASC) or Descending (DESC) order. You can select additional metadata fields to include on your coversheet, such as a revision. Select these additional fields from the drop down list, and then click Add Field.
- Scale to A3 - prompts RedEye to generate PDF in A3
- Print as Separate Pages - export each artefact separately
- No Red Pen markup watermark - prints artefacts without the watermark in the border of the artefacts
- Normalise PDF - ensures that all PDF files are brought to version 1.4 before printing.
TIP: If you want to print lots of artefacts in hard copy once you have downloaded them from RedEyeDMS, it is often easier to print from one continuous PDF than from separate files.
To confirm click either Print in Mono, or Print Selected.
The files will now be processed in the background, and when ready for download you will receive a Notification/Email. You can carry on doing other work in DMS while you wait, or go to View Print Jobs under your profile setting to access the download link.
Print Any Version:
Without this configuration, DMS only allows current approved version of an artefact to be printed (regardless of the version being viewed) In this feature we have introduced a new bucket administration flag that if enabled will allow users to print off a selected version of an artefact.

QR Code
QR code contains Revision ID of the RevisionStatus selected for print. - This function currently is available with singular prints via artefact page. Bulk print from collection prints latest approved artefacts.
Viewing Print Jobs:
RedEyeDMS will keep up to 14 days of your previous Print Jobs. If you want to access one of these completed print jobs, or if your print job has not come through and you want to check status, go to View Print Jobs via your Profile.
From here you can Download completed Print Jobs, View the Artefacts in Search, or check the Status of your Print Job to see if it is Job Pending, or failed and Timed Out.
HINT: If your Print Job has Timed Out, start by trying to print fewer Artefacts at a time. If problems persist, contact your friendly RedEye Support staff.
