As a Bucket Administrator, you are afforded the privileges you need to get the job done in RedEye. Sometimes you may get drawings or documents coming through that don't fit the mould, or you need to deal with contractors who aren't using RedEye. In these cases, even the most dynamic workflows may not be flexible enough for your needs.
For just this kind of scenario, there are two features in RedEye that you can use to keep things moving. These are the Update Current Revision and Upload New Revision features that enable you to bypass your workflow processes.
If this feature has not been enabled for your Bucket, contact your Customer Success Team to discuss.
Update Current Revision and Upload New Revision operate based on the same mechanism. The only major difference is
- Update Current Revision enables you to import a file directly to the artefact without interacting in a workflow, and without creating a whole new Version line in the Artefact History.
- Upload New Revision enables you to import a file directly to the artefact without interacting in a workflow, and will create a new Version line in the Artefact History.
To use this feature, locate the Artefact from the Search interface and open its Artefact Page.
Select the Tools tab, Upload / Download, and then Update Current Revision or Upload New revision.
Simply select the file to import, and you may also choose to input a Comment that defines the reason for import.
The file that you import will now be visible as the latest version of the artefact.
Note:
In some scenarios, the "Submit" button is disabled. That's usually caused by faulty metadata (mostly duplicated metadata). So if you encounter such issue, check your metadata and remove the duplicate where required.
