There are a number of shortcuts that can be used in RedEyeDMS to quickly search for specific artefacts.
Artefact number
You can precede a search term with an @ to search via drawing number e.g.: . @112047-E-0019. To search for multiple artefact numbers, use a semi colon (;), with no spaces between, to separate each number e.g.: @112047-E-0019;112047-E-0020.
Artefact ID
The artefact ID is the numerical value assigned to each artefact in RedEyeDMS. It can be identified in the URL of each artefact.
You can precede a search term with a # to search via artefact ID, e.g. #4028594.
To search for multiple artefact IDs, use a semi colon (;), with no spaces between, to separate each ID.
OCR
OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition – a process by which RedEyeDMS scans the artefact to extract information.
You can precede a search term with a : to search for OCR content, e.g. :VALVE;TP-0001;WATER;"INSTRUMENT DIAGRAM"
For an exact match use quotation marks around the term and use a semicolon to separate multiple terms.
For more information, read the page on Using Optical Character Recognition with Search.
Exact Match Combination
" " can be used when you have multiple search terms you want to lock in the combination. You can search using quotation marks around your search terms – for example "hospital upgrade" would search for the exact phrase hospital upgrade instead of hospital, upgrade or "upgrade hospital".
AND Operator
You can use the & (ampersand) symbol to search with an AND operator:
-
&value1;value2;”other value 3”
In this example the &value1;value2;”other value 3” translates to value1 AND value2 AND “other value 3” and will return artefacts matching all of the specified values.
You can combine the AND (&) operator with the OCR (:) or the Drawing Number (@) operators such that you can use any of the following in the search bar:
-
&term1;term2 - to search in Drawing Number, Title and Metadata
-
@&term1;term2 - to search in drawing number only
-
:&term1;term2 - to search the OCR content only.
You can also use the & with the 'Search Artefact Content' check box. This will search for OCR + Contents + Metadata + Title + Code for the specified terms.
General Search Filters
RedEyeDMS offers a range of other search options including keyword searches, advanced searches with filters, adjusting search view and sort order.
